At the Glioblastoma Support Network, we know that behind every brain tumor diagnosis is a person searching for answers, options, and hope. That’s why we’re proud to spotlight the launch of the Mansouri Lab website—an initiative led by our board member, neurosurgeon-scientist Dr. Alireza Mansouri. 

This lab isn’t just about research—it’s about translating innovation into better outcomes for patients and families facing some of the toughest diagnoses. Through Dr. Mansouri’s work, hope isn’t abstract—it’s in motion.

The Mansouri Lab’s research focuses on tools that can make a tangible difference in the brain tumor journey. From liquid biopsies using cerebrospinal fluid and blood-based biomarkers, to early-phase surgical clinical trials, the lab is working on ways to detect, monitor, and treat brain tumors with greater precision and less invasiveness.

Their mission is to develop pioneering solutions by integrating minimally invasive biomarker discovery with clinical trials, all with one goal in mind: better outcomes and a stronger future for patients. 

About Dr. Alireza Mansouri 

Dr. Mansouri serves as Director of Clinical and Translational Research in Neurosurgery at Penn State, and Co-Lead of the Next Generation Therapeutics Program at the Penn State Cancer Institute. With more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, substantial NIH funding, and a clear passion for patient-centered innovation, he’s recognized as a leader in neuro-oncology and precision medicine. 

Beyond the lab and operating room, he’s a dedicated advocate—serving on the GSN board, co-founding WeTrials to simplify access to clinical trials, and being recognized as Physician of the Year by Penn State Health for his compassionate approach to care.
